Frequently Asked Questions

Any GoPro that records GPS telemetry: Hero 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, Max, and Session 5. Make sure GPS is enabled in your camera settings before recording. And the GPS has time to initialize.

No. Everything is processed locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your video file never leaves your device, we don't even have a server endpoint for it.

GPS must be enabled in the GoPro settings before recording. Also, the GoPro needs more time than other devices to grab a GPS fix, sometimes a few minutes outdoors. Indoor recordings or videos without GPS lock will have no telemetry.

GPX (GPS Exchange Format) is a universal XML-based format for GPS data. It's supported by virtually every mapping and sports tracking application, including Google Earth, Strava, Garmin Connect, FlySync and many more.

Since processing happens in your browser, the limit depends on your device's available memory. Most modern devices handle files up to several GB without issues. The library reads only the metadata track, not the full video stream, so it is very efficient.

Absolutely! Download the GPX file and then upload it to your FlySync logbook using the GPX log viewer. It will be fully parsed with altitude, speed, and map visualization.

The GPX file includes timestamped GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude), altitude, and speed at each point. It also includes the track name based on your video filename.

Want to keep all your jumps in one place?

FlySync is a free logbook that stores your GPS data alongside all your other altimeters, tracks your gear, and gives you even more analytics.
